As a mum of 4 boys it is inevitable that it is usually me snapping away trying desperately to capture every single moment, but I can count on one hand how many pictures I have of me with my boys. It’s a sad reality, but that’s why our photographs that Annie took are so incredibly special! Not only did she somehow manage to capture their individual personalities, but she got me in there too, and for that I am forever grateful. The boys loved it so much they didn’t want to leave and have declared Annie as their new best friend “ (Beth)

MY JOB IN TO CAPTURE WHATS HAPPENING

Two decades ago I was writing a blog post. I’d posted a picture on socials of a Mummy with her children and EVERYONE was commenting on it. And I looked down the list of names and there they were – other Mummies who I’d tried desperately to drag into photos with their own children and who were putting it off – until the summer. Or until they’d lost half a stone. Until this. And that. And the other.
And I was banging the keys angrily writing my blog post about how important it is to ‘exist’ in photos with your children, for your children, for the people you love and who love you – I stopped dead in my tracks.
How many photos did I have of ME with MY son? The ‘Mama with the Camera’. Surely she had thousands.
She had hardly any. A life she had loved – so well documented – with quite literally 1000’s of images and the ones of her she could count on her fingers. Just a handful of her with her son who she loves more than life itself. Not with the horses she had loved. Not with her dogs. Everyone else – but never her.
The moments that matter pass in an instant. Your story deserves to be experienced and enjoyed – not managed.
